Portland baby!!

For almost a week I've been in Portland visiting my older sister who goes to school out here. I'm excited to get back home to my bed (...and my a/c!!), but it's been a great trip so far.

This was the most amazing day full of soccer! We started out the day at this pub that was screening the World Cup for free. I was in the minority cheering for Germany, you've got to support your ancestry!!

Then we headed down to Portland's soccer stadium to catch the Portland Thorns! This was a neat statue that I had to pose with outside the stadium. 

This was one of the most exciting things I've ever done because I got to see my hero Alex Morgan play! There she is number 13 (my fav number of course).

Today we headed to the Portland zoo.

We took an obnoxious amount of selfies with these lions..... but I'm far from sorry about it.

Shout out to my sister Gena for the great time in Portland! It's great to see how and where she lives. She'll have to come out to Virginia next year and let me repay the favor. I can't wait to act as a host for my own guests someday! This trip has given me a taste of my future and I've got to say... it tastes pretty good.

Dorm Room Planning

So I finally got my dorm room assignment! I now know where I'm living and who I'm living with. In my excitement I've started planning my room decor. Moving On and Looking Forward

The college process has been a tough one on me. It took a lot for me to get to this point, but I can finally say I'm excited about attending William and Mary!! It took all summer, lots of complaining, and doing my best to become a better person. Finding this post definitely was also a GREAT reminder of who I was a couple years ago before I found myself changing and succumbing to peer pressure. It was also a great reminder of how great of a school William and Mary is!!! It's one of the top public universities in the nation and I am extremely lucky to have been given a spot in the class of 2014!

I had a wonderful celebration on the 4th with some of my closest friends. I'm so grateful to have ladies like these in my life who humor me when I want to throw a big ol' bash like this! And SO to Pinterest for sponsoring this event ;)

When dreams become novels

You know how a lot of authors* get their big book ideas from dreams they've had? Well I had this wild, sic-fi/futuristic type dream that would be an intriguing story if nothing else so I'm going to do my best to remember it here with the hopes of developing it into a novel someday**.

Setting: futuristic, technological based society. (Think Tom Cruise, Edge of Tomorrow type stuff).

The corrupt government is recruiting soldiers for defense and general peace-keeping***. They're looking for individuals with a special set of DNA that have been prophesied to put a stop to the government's doing (surely there's a corrupt dictator to go with this corrupt government? comme Lord Voldy?). As soldiers sign up they are tested with a set of challenges ending with a DNA. This part of the challenge is the safest and easiest part- unless of course you are one of the few the prophesy speaks of. Our fearless heroine (me in the dream) knows of the prophesy and the risk she must take in attempt to take down the government. In a stroke of absurd luck, she manages to get through the test. No cheap tricks or help, but somehow she passes through. She is equipped with weaponry immediately- deadly weaponry she has no clue how to use. Immediately thrown into combat, she fumbles with her weapons, feeling heavy footed and stupid as she does so. As the flying machine**** lands at the concrete sky loading dock, she sees one of the higher ups in the military will be her partner in combat. She struggles to kill him and only succeeds in seriously injuring him before she is thrown into the air.

At this point I woke up from the dream as many of us do when we are thrown, hurtling through the sky to our deaths.

I'll have to sit on this one to see how I feel about it before I contemplate continuing the story, but I definitely had fun trying to fill the wholes of my memory from this wildly entertaining dream I had.

Sorry if this post is dull, I know that our simple minds tend to respond better to pictures and this post is woefully lacking in that area. BUT LEARN TO EXERCISE YOUR MIND YOU STUPID TWITS.
